Anyone who knows me well knows I have a special place in my heart for Tofino. There is just something about stepping out onto those expansive beaches and hearing the waves crashing into the rugged shoreline that brings me into true connection with myself and my existence.

Last January I had a month solo stint in this epic place when the stars aligned and I met the incredible Dede Monette, Founder of Tofino Yoga. My preferences when it comes to yoga instructors is similar to my preferences with drinking water, generally love to consume, but.. I’m picky about the taste. Needless to say, Dede’s my kind of water.

If you are in Tofino I would say it’s a must to check Tofino Yoga out. Dede is one of a kind, and she incorporates the essence of this magical place into her offerings by doing yoga classes on the beach at sunset, stand up paddle boarding yoga amongst the seals and eagles after sunrise, and hosts full on yoga and wellness retreats for those that are looking to enhance their Tofino experience.

So how did I end up on my mat at Dede’s studio? Over this past year I have done a deep dive into the world of yoga and meditation; completing over 150 hours of teacher training in Bali and Tofino and practicing 5-6 times a week. I still can’t touch my toes and my bridge pose still isn’t pretty, but what I can tell you, is that my head has never been so clear and I have never felt more in power around my thoughts and emotions. From my experience, yoga and meditation are proving to be powerful practices that allow me to show up as a purposeful empowered leader in every area of my life.

I’m bought in; both from an experiential and conceptual level of understanding. In the past few months I have been incorporating my learnings into my programs and coaching and clients are loving the practices as well as the results.

Because of this I’m eager to find more ways to bridge the world of leadership and yoga. And guess what?! Tofino Yoga and The Winning Academy are going to be working to bring some Whole Life Leadership into the hands of the Yogi’s in the Tofino Yoga retreats. How exciting!
